Memorial University Fencing Club — Schedule

The winter 2026 schedule at a glance

General Information

Membership cost:
  • Club membership is $50 per term for Memorial/MI students. $75 per term for all others.
  • Club membership fees can be paid by e-transfers to munfencing.student@gmail.com
  • Club members must be members in good standing of the Newfoundland and Labrador Fencing Association. This costs about $65 per year (September to September.) The fee is entirely separate from the club membership fee. You will be joining two organizations: the club and the association. They are paid separately. See the Links page for the NLFA payment portal.
  • Discounts:
    • Our club membership fee is less than $2.00 per hour. If you can't afford that, talk to us. We no longer participate in the St. John's R.E.A.L. program, but will continue to waive club fees for people with financial need.
    • If you take the beginner class starting half way through the fall term, you will get a 50% discount for the winter term.
  • All members should be on our email list.
Training Times and places:
  • Mondays 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the MUN Field House.
  • Wednesdays 7:00 to 9:00pm at the MUN Field House.
  • Saturdays 10:00 to 12:00am at the MUN Field House.
  • All members are welcome at all training times, however priority for space and equipment will go to people taking whatever class is on the go. Buy your own gear and this won't be an issue.
Dates: Winter 2026: Jan 19 through April 11.
Equipment:
  • Priority on equipment goes to people taking the classes.
  • Grippy, non-marking, indoor-only sneakers are required.
  • See also our safety procedures below.
Weather: Fencing will be canceled if the Works is shut down for snow, hurricane, snow hurricane, or other circumstances. Check the Works home page for cancellation notices.

You fence at your own risk and your safety is your personal responsibility. Not withstanding this, as a member of the Memorial University Fencing club, you commit to creating a safe environment for fencing. You must respect the safety policies of the club and the coaches' right to forbid you from fencing under conditions that they deem unsafe.
